100 MILESTONES OF 20TH CENTURY WATCHMAKING
A UNIQUE
GUIDE TO WATCH COLLECTING – TECHNOLOGY, DESIGN AND STYLING OF THE MORE AND LESS WELL-KNOWN MODELS THAT MADE THE HISTORY OF TIMEKEEPING FROM 1900 TO 2000
THE REVISED, ENGLISH-ONLY EDITION OF PRESSISION WATCH
BOOK #1
An extract from the introduction
(…) The Museum Collection is a voyage through time(keepers), an entrance
ticket to an exhibition, a source of advice and inspiration for the watch lover
seeking to build up the perfect collection. What is the “perfect” collection?
In this book’s view, it is the one featuring the most significant wristwatches
of the 20th Century from the technical and aesthetic point of view. (…) Each
one of the 100 chapters features a description of the discussed object, a one
through five star rating of its historical relevance, the technical
information, several pictures showing both the exterior and interior of the
timepiece, and in some cases the reproductions of ads, booklets or user
manuals. (…) The Appendixes section includes an “esoteric” selection of unusual
or unique pieces, a number of presentation boxes that are attractive collector's
items in their own right, the fictional story of a watch featured earlier on in the
book, and the account of how the purchase of an old military timepiece inspired
the historical novel Wingwatch.
